CRM was established in 1985 (then Center for Rural Massachusetts) to undertake applied research in support of our mission. Center publications and projects, such as advancing the greenways concept, context-sensitive design, strategic planning, and new planning models and tools have been studied and adopted throughout the United States and the world.
What communities do you work with? Government agencies, community groups, and non-profit organizations, in and outside of Massachusetts.
What is the cost of services? Projects vary from a few hundred dollars to large six figure projects. Let's talk about what you need.
Do we need to go to bid to hire your services? No. We do sometimes respond to requests for proposals, but as a subdivision of state government, communities hiring us fall under a MGL Chapter 30B Procurement (Section 1 (3) and 1 (4)) exemption.
What projects are you interested in? Any project that provides learning and case study experiences, supports our focus on planning, resilience, and sustainability, and advances our applied research.
What are the opportunities for students to work on Center projects? We offer practicums and internships for academic credit and hire students.
