The D.W. Field Park is in the City of Brockton and the Town of Avon, with the 650 acre park owned by the City of Brockton and a 30 acre addition purchased in 2024 owned by the Town of Avon.
The Trail Feasibility Assessment (completed 2024) will help Brockton and Avon plan for future trail improvements and new trails.
The project is completely funded by the Municipal Vulnerability Program to serve three critical resilience challenges: 1. Ensure that trails are resilient, avoiding erosion, tree damage, wetlands damage, and other resource challenges which are being challenged by climate change. 2. Provide outdoor recreation for people that remains attractive during the increasing number of heat waves with climate change, especially for populations with limited resources. 3. Explore opportunities for trails to and within the park that might reduce the need for new parking.
